FLIMSY CARDBOARD Panels - NOT hardcase!!

Both the 10X and the 12X cases are the same construction - Very flimsy and cheap quality overall. This is NOT a true 'hardshell' case - the side, top, and bottom panels are cardboard - not plywood - and covered w/ black cloth, and the trim is very flimsy, thin aluminum, which gets bent very easily. Once the trim is bent the panels come out and the whole thing falls apart. You're better off w/ a good quality padded soft case than this piece of crap.

Geeze, where do I begin. Let me start by saying that I'm hoping that I may have gotten the one bad apple out of the barrel. From all appearances, this should be a very nice case. It fits my accordion well and looks like solid construction. But, the one that got shipped to me has issues.

1st, The packaging was lousy, and a couple of the aluminum frame pieces were kinked and dimpled from lack of cushioning.

2nd, There are keyed locks on the latches that do nothing. The key just spins around and doesn't engage anything. I contacted Hohner, and it was determined that I must have received bad locks which is pretty much what I had figured out already.

3rd, the top portion of the case looks like it leans to one side. Maybe it took a hard rap in transit.

It's difficult to determine fault here. Hohner ? Amazon.com ? FedEx ? USPS ?

So, I'm looking forward to receiving a replacement case from Amazon.com and am packaging up this one for the return. If the second one arrives with all the issues remedied, I'll be sure to amend my review.

****** O/K, the replacement case arrived and it also is junk. There is a dimple in one of the aluminum pieces, and the locking latches do not work. It will be returned to Amazon.com also. It would seem that Amazon.com has gotten a batch of knock-offs or B stock from somewhere that they are selling as new merchandise.

I have read the reviews of the similar 12X, and those reviews have the same issues. I'll be contacting Hohner about this and will have to find the case elsewhere. Hope this helps someone who is thinking about buying the case from this seller.

****** Last edit of my review. After a couple of emails to Hohner in Virginia, they are helping me with obtaining a new case with working locks. Their service department has renewed my confidence in the brand.
