A Great Instrument for Beginners or Travellers
By jonathan
I'm surprised that no one has yet reviewed this accordion, so I must assume that most people will either go to instrument stores locally or from online specialty shops. I had personally done a bit of shopping around before finding the best deal through Amazon.
I had originally purchased a full-size 120-bass unit from a local player in Auckland, and I used it to learn on. It worked very well until I started travelling, and the hard reality of lugging such a large and heavy accordion through customs became very clear.
For the beginner or casual enthusiast, as well as someone who moves around a lot, you can't do better than this 48-bass. The price has gone up a bit since I bought it but it's still reasonable. The sound is crisp and authentic, and there are plenty of bass buttons to get around most songs, although some key changes will need a bit of clever fingerwork.
Coming down from a full size unit was very easy for me, and was no problem to transition into it. And there's no problem carrying it to random jam sessions with friends.
Hohner has shown once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in terms of reed instruments.
